課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
This course offers a survey of major science fiction authors; the focus is on twentieth-century Anglo-American writers, with a mix of novels, short stories, film, and television. The thematic divisions explore various notions of otherness or, more formally, alterity. Otherness will be addressed in terms of racial and colonial others, political and cultural others, gendered others, ontological others, and psychological others. Because there is simply too much to cover, we will vote on certain choices, the preferences of the class determining some of the reading or viewing.
