課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
This course is, chronologically-speaking, a continuation of the first semester, taking us through Romanticism to Naturalism and then into the confusion of the early twentieth century, and ending with the even greater confusion of the post-WWII era. Although it picks up where the previous course left off historically, the first course is not a necessary prerequisite. Parallel to these major movements, we will discuss major historical revolutions occurring in the 19th and 20th centuries, including the fallout from the Enlightenment and French Revolution, industrialization and the triumph of bourgeois capitalism, and the conflicts of the early 20th century and the accompanying political developments.
