課程目標   Learning Objectives
1. Students’ language awareness regarding this gap between what they can write and what they want to write in English will be significantly enhanced.
2. Students will learn how to plan in academic English writing and how to find resources to enrich the content of their compositions.
3. Students’ three dimensions of EFL writing, namely complexity, accuracy, and fluency, will be significantly fostered.
4. Students will develop the ability to think critically in written English when writing on topics related to global issues, such as economics and environment.

成績評量方式補充說明   
Course requirements:
1. Students have to complete the assigned reading or video watching before coming to class. Failing to meet this course requirement will lead to the deduction of five points from the final grade.
2. No food and drink are allowed in class.
3. Please turn your cell phone into the vibrate mode. Using cell phones without being requested by the teacher will lead to the deduction of 20 points out of the 100 subscore of your attendance and participation.
4. The grading rubric for self-, peer, and teacher-assessment is based on the
one invented by Jacobs, Zinkgraf,Wormuth,Hartfiel, and Hughey (1981).
The following is an outline of the rubric and a complete version of it will
be provided in class.
A: Content 30%: 30-27 Excellent to very good
26-22 Good to average
21-17 Fair to poor
16-13 Very poor
B: Organization 20% : 20-18 Excellent to very good

5. Every student in this class is required to participate in this international project and has to discuss certain topics from students around the world. You will be required to turn in in your discussions at the end of the semester to fulfill the requirement of this class.
