課程目標   Learning Objectives
This course is an introduction to the study of how meaning is encoded and expressed in natural language. It will provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge in the fundamentals of Semantics in modern linguistics. The range of the topics dealt with will cover:
(1) the place of semantics within linguistics (i.e. the relations between Semantics and other disciplines),
(2) the analysis of word and sentence meaning (such as meaning, thought and reality, context and inference, etc.), and
(3) some important theoretical approaches (including componential theory and cognitive semantics).
