課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
1. To be more aware of the ecological problems we face today, and some of the possible causes (articles)
2. Learn what a consumerist society is--how both knowledge and love are commodified--and its relevance to our failure to cope with climate change (novel)
3. Learn to care more about the natural world, and get a better grasp of capitalism.
4. So that you really know the ecological problem as McEwan sees it, I'm thinking of having you write a short story with the two wives of our hero as the two main characters. From their talk, you examine the two women's different points of view, and show their understandings of our hero's life.

Am considering the possibility of replacing your final academic paper with a short story. In this story, you have our hero's wives meeting somewhere. They, different persons of course, discuss the merits and weaknesses of him. Also, each woman despises the other.
This final paper appeals more to me than those academic papers. What do you think?
