課程目標   Learning Objectives
1. Students will be able to distinguish between main idea and supporting details in a short English essay.
2. Students will be able to improve their writing accuracy regarding English grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling.
3. Students will be able to write complete and correct English sentences of different combinations such as compound and complex sentences.
4. Students will learn the differences between written and spoken English and know which words to or not to use when writing in English.

成績評量方式補充說明   
Course requirements:
1. No eating is allowed in class. Any food brought to class will lead to
deduction of five points out of your attendance and participation.
2. Students who do not turn in final drafts of paragraphs, short essays, or any
other graded work by the due date will receive a 20% lower grade on that
assignment.
3. Students are fully responsible for all information and assignments missed due to
tardiness or absence.
4. Students who are absent more than three class sessions will receive a 30% lower
grade on attendance and participation.
5. You should be ready to spend 2-3 hours outside of class each week for this class.
6. Quizzes will be announced a week in advance.
7. Cheating (copying sentences, paragraphs or test answers from other students or
from books, handouts, or the Internet) will result in an automatic zero on that
quiz, test or the assignment.
8. Interruptions of lectures, whole class discussions or exams will not be
tolerated. Cell phones must be turned off or turned to “vibrate” during class,
quizzes, and exams.
