課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
This course is designed to teach students with as overview of the theory and practice of several famous methods used in various settings and to the target students. In order to improve students’ strategies and ability of using the teaching methods, they will need to form groups to discuss, design and present opinions about curriculum design of the readings and their own lessons. It is hoped that students can improve both of their theory and practice knowledge after taking the course.

Requirements: 1. Chs. 2-9 classic methods, chs. 10 -14 modern alternative approaches. Other modern approaches will be covered in the course “Teaching English to Children”. 2. Chs. 10-14 will be assigned to group presentation, 4 members in a group. Need to include nuclear competence. Design and present a 40 minute class with the assigned method. 11/6 hand in the lesson plan. 11/20 hand in the revised lesson plan. 12/4, 12/11, 12/18 lesson presentation. 3. It is better to preview the lesson each time before class as group discussion with personal presentation will be done in class in each lesson. 4. 11/27 (賢北) and 12/25 (附小) observing classes. 1/8 Compare your observed class and your group presentation, similarities and differences and improvement. 5. No cheating is allowed in this course. E.g. lesson plans. (including nuclear literacy: three dimensions and nine items) 6. ***Attendance is mandatory. You are responsible for attending every class meeting. Each hour of absence will result in a 1-point penalty. If you are late for 15 minutes, you will be considered absent. The three situations: 6 leaves / 1 unexcused absence and 3 leaves / 2 unexcused absences will be equal to losing the chance of the final exam. If you are absent for the group presentation, you will be given a zero grade. 7. Each volunteer answer will get 0.2 point of extra points for the performance. Those who attend certain activities related to English teaching will be given extra points. 8. From the second week on, you will need to sit on a fixed place. 9. No late work. 10. Handouts fee: $30.
