課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
This course aims to develop students’ academic essay-writing skills from paragraph-level organization to research-paper development. Students will review the essential components of an essay, including introductions, thesis statements, body paragraphs, supporting details, transitions, and conclusions, and apply the writing process of planning, drafting, revising, editing, and proofreading. They will learn to use information from original sources through direct quotation, paraphrasing, summarizing, synthesizing, and appropriate citation. Students will also practice writing cause-effect, comparison, reaction, and argument essays, including the use of counterarguments and refutations. In the final stage of the course, students will learn how to select a research topic, locate and evaluate sources, organize information, and produce a well-supported research paper. Throughout the course, students will strengthen their grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, coherence, accuracy, and test-preparation skills.
