課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts and analytical methods of English syntax. Students will examine how words combine to form phrases and sentences and explore key topics such as sentence structure, null constituents, head movement, wh-movement, A-movement, agreement, case, split projections, and phases. Through lectures, class discussions, and syntactic analysis, students will develop the ability to identify grammatical patterns, construct structural representations, and explain how different sentence structures are formed. By the end of the semester, students will have gained a solid foundation in contemporary syntactic theory and a deeper understanding of the underlying structure of English.
