課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
This course is an introduction to genre. In addition to discussing the formal characteristics of genre through examples, we will also develop a working vocabulary of literary terms. Our goal is to develop the ability to apply these terms to our texts as well as to new situations. Social, historical, and cultural contexts will also be discussed relevant to our texts, including general overviews of the ancient, medieval, and modern world and their major artistic contributions to western civilization. Tests will consist of plot and term application questions.
