|
Introduction
This course is recommended for students who already have a basic understanding of oil painting. In addition to helping students become proficient in fundamental oil painting techniques, it aims to guide them in contemplating the language of painting in contemporary art, finding appropriate themes, expressive forms, and developing a sense of awareness for personal artistic creation. Furthermore, students will explore the integration of oil painting with various multimedia to expand the diversity of their oil painting expressions and create works with individual styles.
Objective of Course
1. Through an overview of Western art history, insights from modern painting, and an introduction to contemporary art, students will gain an understanding of the development of oil painting in Western art history and explore the possibilities of the medium. In addition to summarizing art history, this course will incorporate introductions to relevant philosophical theories to cultivate not only students' painting techniques but also their critical thinking abilities, creativity, and artistic knowledge.
2. The first half of the semester will primarily focus on the teaching of classical Western oil painting techniques, emphasizing the cultivation of classical techniques and theories to strengthen students' foundational skills and deepen their aesthetic sensibilities.
4. The second half of the semester will concentrate on the exploration of "contemporary social issues" such as gender, race, environment, class, or "self-exploration" themes, including topics related to body awareness, pop culture, self-identity crises, etc. Through research, discussions, and individual creative practices related to these themes, the course aims to enhance students' creative thinking and their ability to utilize contemporary forms of expression.
5. Theory and practice will be balanced, with encouragement for students to present their work in addition to classroom assessments.
本課程建議已具備油畫基礎能力的同學研習，除了使學生熟稔原有的基礎油畫技法外，進一步引導學生思考當代藝術中的繪畫語言，尋找適切主題、表現形式或個人藝術創作的問題意識。此外，學生將進行油畫結合多元媒材的探索，拓展學生油畫表現的多樣性，創造個人風格的作品。
1. 透過西方美術史的概論、現代繪畫的啟示，以及當代藝術的介紹，使學生理解油畫在西方繪畫史中的發展，以及發掘油畫媒材之可能性。除了概述藝術史外，更搭配相關哲學理論的介紹，目的在培養除了學生繪畫技法之外的良好的思考能力、創造力以及藝術涵養。
2. 上半學期以西洋油畫古典技法的教學為主，著重在古典技法與理論的培養，強化學生油畫功底以及深化美學素養。
4. 下半學期專注於「當代社會議題」的探索，如性別、種族、環境、階級等議題等，或是「探索自我」為主題進行創作，如身體意識、流行文化、自我認同危機等主題。透過以上主題研究、交流與討論、個人創作的實踐，除了傳統油畫的底蘊外，更希望能使學生獲得的創造性思維以及運用當代表現形式的能力。
5. 理論與實務並重，除課堂評鑑外，鼓勵學生成果發表。
