了解各類脊椎動物分類的基本原理與各物種間之親緣演化關係，依據軟骨魚、硬骨魚類、兩生、爬行、鳥類、哺乳類之順序，讓同學瞭解各物種之形態、外部及解剖結構的特色及特徵，並對於台灣產之脊椎動物，認識其基本鑑定特徵、生活史與其地理分布。
