課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
This introduction to Western drama will touch upon major periods and genres of theater beginning with the Ancient Greco-Roman world and ending with late 20th century Europe. Genres include Ancient tragedy, the Baroque comedy of manners, the problem play, tragicomedy, Modernist experimentation, including Expressionism, Existentialism, and Absurdism. This course is mostly text-based; we give some brief attention to the dramatic theories of Aristotle, Freytag, and Szondi.
