課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
In this introductory course, we study the issue of sex/gender, focusing on several aspects: history, body, reading, class, desire, and men. In addition to printed materials, we read a novel, The Handmaid's Tale (a novel by Margaret Atwood, "Queen of Canadian Literature"), selected because it offers the chance for different approaches to women's problems. Students learn to grasp how sex/gender is socially constructed and how women manage to survive, as well as to apply their knowledge when analyzing the novel.
* We do not concern ourselves with the issue of homosexuality this time.
