課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
The course focus is American literary developments in prose fiction, and to a lesser degree drama and poetry, from 1900 to the present. In addition to several canonical authors, we will also investigate examples of popular culture (film, science fiction, animation, and graphic novels) as well as a general survey of historical and cultural concerns during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Because the course is organized chronologically, we will link historical problems (in their political, economic, and institutional applications) to specific works whenever possible—to pursue this goal, we will again use sections from a general textbook of American history.
