課程目標 Learning Objectives
|
|
First-year Composition, semester one, is partly an advanced grammar course, partly a paragraph-level writing course. The grammar points follow chapters from Correct Writing, and consist of parts of speech, subjects/complements, mood, clauses, phrases, and subordination. We will cover about half the book this semester and the other half in Composition II. Writing assignments are varied: first paragraph form and practice with form and integrating complex sentences in a short creative assignment, and then more formal writing in a series of short papers focused on description, cause-effect, and problem-solution. We will also conduct peer writing for these three papers. For detailed information about weekly content, see the worksheets for the class uploaded into e-course.
